Contribute to the Creation of a Behaviour Development Plan
1.
In your own words, outline what you understand by the term Principles of Social Role Valorisation (SRV). Use the internet to research this term.
2.
Read through the following scenario and use it to develop a hypothetical BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT PLAN for your client. Complete the form below.
Scenario
Paul is a 33 year old male with an intellectual disability. He has some skills with his ADL’s, for example he is able to dress himself and attend to most of his personal hygiene needs. Paul is continent. His verbal communication skills are almost non-existent. He is now working in a sheltered workshop environment. Paul has only been in this environment for two days.
Day 1
Paul threw a hammer, narrowly missing one of the instructors. He also dropped a wood working saw on his foot, sustaining a mild injury.
Day 2
The workshop instructors are very concerned about Paul’s self-harm practices. He is pulling his hair out, (little left in place now), and slapping his face, sustaining mild bruising and a skin tear from his finger nails. His finger nails have now been cut to a safe length.
Note: Remember to keep all the information CONFIDENTIAL – hypothetically.
The suggested response for each of the following is approximately 25 – 100 words and/or 3 – 5 detailed bullet points
a).
Summary of your observations / experiences of Paul the client over the past two (2) days.
–
b).

Particular behaviours of concern / challenging behaviours and HOW they are to be addressed.
–
e).
Organisational policies and procedures that apply in Paul’s case.
f).
List POSITIVE reinforcement strategies that could be applied with Paul.
–
g).
