Can you please explain this to me
The term “postpartum blues” refers to a temporary state of low mood and moderate depressive symptoms that disappear on their own after giving birth. Most women experience baby blues two to three days after the birth of their child. They have a potential lifespan of up to 14 days. Most of the time, you won’t require any treatment because they will disappear on their own.
Postpartum depression is a condition that manifests itself when the postpartum symptoms do not resolve themselves (Starr, 2017). If the mother continues to suffer emotions of hopelessness or emptiness after giving birth, it is not a standard or anticipated component of becoming a mother; yet, if these sentiments do not fade away, they may interfere with the mother’s ability to live everyday life.
Postpartum psychosis is a severe mental disease that can affect a person in the weeks or months after giving birth to a child. After delivery, it affects approximately 1 in every 500 moms on average. This phenomenon is common among women who have recently given birth.
Dysthymic disorder is a form of depression that lasts for an extended period (chronic). A person may lose interest in the typical, day-to-day tasks they formerly enjoyed, feel despondent, become less productive, have low self-esteem, and have an overall sense of inadequacy.
SAD- refers to seasonal depression. The onset and sunset of this condition are similar throughout the year.
The objective symptoms in patients with a major depressive disorder are diminished expressions, retardation of movements, tiredness, inattentiveness, and lack of interest in the surroundings. Citalopram is one SSRI. Serotonin syndrome is a drug reaction caused by drugs that build up high levels of serotonin in the body. Selegiline is one of MAOI’s meds, and a hypertensive crisis is a life-threatening increase in blood pressure that can lead to stroke. The foods to avoid are red meat, saturated fats, and salty and sugary foods.
