it, and what the results were. Quantify the accomplishment as much as possible.
2. Personality Traits – Name your three strongest personality traits.
a. For example, are you creative, organized, flexible, analytical, motivated, persistent, or
perceptive?
b. Use your list of accomplishments to identify the personality traits that were needed to
be successful. Be as specific as possible.
3. Skills – List your strongest skills.
a. Again, consider your accomplishments in determining what was needed to achieve each
outcome.
b. Focus on what you believe to be your three best skills.
4. Values – What qualities of the work environment are most important to you?
a. Do you value creativity, prestige, competition, variety, intellectual stimulation, altruism,
the opportunity to learn, or other things?
b. List the top three characteristics of your optimal work environment.
5. Interests – People generally find enjoyment in doing whatever it is they are interested in.
a. What have you liked and not liked throughout your work and life activities?
b. List the three activities that you most enjoy doing.
6.Putting it All Together – Using what you’ve learned, put together a brief statement that
summarizes your profile. You should now have a clearer picture of yourself, what you like, and
what you have to offer an organization. This exercise will give you a strong base to use in
articulating the unique talents, abilities, and skills that you have to offer, while helping you focus
on current and future opportunities that fit your values and interests.
