Look to social media for a recent health claim (diet, exercise activity, supplement etc.) that is being promoted to the public as being beneficial to their health and provide a link to the media site that describes the health claim. After you give a description of the claim please apply the “The Risk of Deception” tool to this health claim and report all your ratings and final score.

Please provide a score and rationale for each item of the Risk of Deception Tool in your initial post.
Example only:

Authority: 1 (Ex-pro surfer and a model Bree Kleintop)

Scarcity: 0 (Doesn’t claim to be in short supply or to have exclusive offers)

Liking or Similarity: 2 (It invites you to join thousands of fit women)

Reciprocation: 1 (Order 3 bottles get free gifts and delivery, for example. And there are a couple of other offers that provide free gifts with the purchase)

Effects Claims: 2 (the site provides multiple before and after pictures and satisfactory testimonials only.)

Pseudo-technical language: 1 (Uses repetitive language, a lot)

Pseudoscience: 2 (Mentions the studies but doesn’t say which ones or on whom. States the company has done their own research, but yet again doesn’t say anything else)

Evidence of efficacy level: 4 (I give this supplement a low score for efficacy due to the absence of any results of the studies mentioned on the site. My personal research of active ingredients in medical journals showed that the result of using this particular element did not provide any weight loss results).

Total score: 13 High Risk of Deception.
