As nurses, we have beliefs about nursing that guide our practice. For most of us, these beliefs are not written, but reside within us to make up our nursing identity. This assignment is an opportunity to think critically and reflectively about those beliefs and to document them. Sharing and discussion are important parts of growth. Therefore, students will share their philosophies of nursing.
 

Key Topics and Questions to Consider:

How do I feel about nursing and related concepts?
How do feelings and beliefs guide my practice?
What has influenced the development of my beliefs about nursing?
What are my ethical beliefs in nursing? How do these influence my practice?
What are my goals for my nursing practice?

As you read portions of the assigned chapters in Huber, think about your own transition from school as you consider your own thoughts about nursing.
