Type II diabetes is a disease process that can be mostly managed with diet, exercise, and weight control. Lack of sufficient education and support from the clinician can produce a reliance on medication which has some potential adverse side effects to control the patient’s sugar instead of creating a healthier lifestyle and habits. This proposal will address how a more supportive clinic and extensive education process can help diabetic patients better control their blood sugar with diet and exercise to help create a healthier and improved quality of life. In this proposal, I will provide evidence-based protocols that will support the implementation of education regarding the healthier alternative of treating type II diabetes with diet, exercise, and weight control.
