In the CPT, Surgery is the largest section for category I codes. Its code range is from 10000 to 69990 and each subsection within Surgery is divided based on body systems, since we can have surgical procedures from head to toe. As every other section of the CPT manual, the Surgery section has its own colored guidelines
 

When are the new guidelines in the coding manuals published and when do they become effective?
