Task Description: This assessment task provides you with the opportunity to identify risk and hazards in the workplace. 

 

This task relates to the unit: 

HLTWHS002 – Follow safe practice for direct client care 

 

Instructions: 

In this task you are required to perform a hazard identification for your workplace with fellow a student. 
You need to complete below the hazard identification checklist for the workplace and identify the hazard situation if any. You must follow workplace policies and procedures of the organisation. 

 

Hazard identification checklist 

Purpose: 

This checklist is to assist in conducting and recording inspections of all areas of the facility where foreseeable risks may have arisen due to continuous use or where safety may have been affected since the last check.

• All the hoist/ standing machines are in good working condition.

•     Are all fire extinguishers, hose-reels, and automatic sprinkler systems   inspected and tested regularly 

 

 

 

•     Are all fire extinguishers inspected and tested by competent persons?   

 

 

 

•     Are regular checks undertaken to make sure equipment is not missing or damaged?

•     Cleaning materials, detergent is stored in locked, secured and labelled cupboards. 

 

 

 

•     All chemicals are stored separately from food. 

 

 

 

           •    First aid kit is labelled. 

 

 

 

           •      Medicine/ Drug room is locked at all times. 

 

 

 

•     MSDS (Material safety Data sheet) is available in the equipment room. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

General 

 

 

 

•     Entries and exits are clear and exit doors are easily accessible. 

 

 

 

           •    Rubbish bins are empty and clean 

 

 

 

•     Floors are clean and maintained so likelihood of accidents is reduced.
