Patient presents to the office for a visit regarding his wife’s concerns about his sleeping. According to the wife, the patient stops breathing when he is sleeping. The patient was asked about his sleep habits: Patient reports that he snores and is loud enough to wake his wife, he is fatigued during the day, and has a choking feeling upon waking up. He states he falls asleep watching TV at night. He gets up to go to bed and says he sleeps but wakes up with a headache and is not refreshed. His wife states he thrashes in his sleep , snores, and snorts so she wakes him up because it scares her. The patient was educated about his risk for obstructive sleep apnea as he is male, over 50 years old, is on a blood pressure medication, and his neck circumference was measured at 48cm. Height is 5’10” and weight is 283. Patient was educated about his risks and provider was up asked to speak with patient about testing.
