One section of your final fieldwork portfolio for this course is a section labeled “field notes.” It is important to record these field notes as you are completing your fieldwork hours.

You will be required to submit three field notes in total for this course.

Each week of the course that is identified as a Fieldwork Experience Week, you will document an event or activity that occurred during this week. This event or activity may concern your project work, such as a committee or individual meeting that was held, or may be your observations in regard to your fieldwork experience in terms of regulatory issues (standards, policies, accreditation or regulation of nursing, etc.) for that week.

For this week’s field note, describe an event or activity that occurred during your fieldwork that indicated the style, leadership skills, or philosophy of the advanced practice nurse leader who is serving as your preceptor. Compare or contrast your own leadership style/model or philosophy to your preceptor’s. Please identify any new information or skills that you are learning in working with your preceptor.
