Case Scenario
Mr. Mariano 24-year-old male who is a new C5 quadriplegic from an MVC where he was struck driver side by a drunk driver with signs of internal bleeding. He was rushed to the emergency department and immediately transferred to the surgery department. He has no known drug allergy. No previous history of any other diseases or conditions. Admitted postoperatively NPO for hours the clear liquids after, with a foley catheter and the urine output is blood tinged and less than 30cc/hr. No bowel movement since admitted. Connected to 0.9% NaCl 150cc/hour. Tramadol for 3 doses IV every 6 hours the first dose is given in the operating room and the next is in the surgical ward. He was awake when transferred but still groggy due to the general anesthesia. Vital signs taken T-36.9 PR-108bpm HR-18cpm BP-113/74mmHg O2 sat of 97%. Blood works and diagnostics are normal.
