“Funders want to know that you have the ability to carry out the proposed research. They also want to know whether, if you encounter a problem, you will know how to resolve it. An experienced mentor is an asset when applying for pre- or postdoctoral grants, which are generally given to new researchers” (Denisco & Barker, 2016, p. 472). What is a mentor to a new researcher? How could an APN go about finding one if they needed to?
