Mrs. Jenson 87 years old is admitted with UTI from a nursing home to the medical ward. She has dementia and gets verbally aggressive when upset which is worsened now with UTI. You have just come on shift and went to assess the patient. You found the morning medication which appeared to be the oral antibiotic on the bedside table. The drug chart has the morn-ing antibiotic signed off by the previous shift RN.

What is your responsibility as a nurse to deal with the situation as the next dose is due in an hour and you are unable to get a proper response from the patient regarding this?
