Make recommendations for how they might strengthen
Make recommendations for how they might strengthen the leadership behaviors profiled in their StrengthsFinder assessment, or by commenting on lessons to be learned from the results that can be applied to personal leadership philosophies and behaviors. Give examples and list references In this post, I will discuss my results from the StrengthFinder assessment. Specifically, I will discuss two core values, two strengths, and two characteristics I would like to strengthen based on the results of my StrengthsFinder assessment. Values guide how people work and work together with others (Broome & Marshall, 2021). It is vital for leaders to have core values to help guide decision-making while also being able to recognize their strengths and weaknesses (Laureate Education, 2018). In healthcare specifically, leaders are crucial because of the variety of people and functions that must come together to deliver quality healthcare (Laureate Education, 2014). Per my Signature Theme Report, my strengths are empathy, winning others over, consistency, relator, and responsibility (Rath, 2007). Overall, this study told me that my strengths center around how I treat people. It is important that people are treated fairly, heard, and understood. Two core values that I possess are honesty and fairness. Leading people without being honest and forthcoming throughout the process is impossible. Also, I do not believe there is a point to being a leader if you can not be fair in how you lead and in the desired results. Two strengths I possess are my ability to build rapport and make people feel included. I can build rapport with people by genuinely listening to them and identifying something unique about them to show my interest. I am a very active listener, eager to ask questions and maintain eye contact. I want to strengthen two characteristics: my ability to relate to people and my empathy. I chose these two characteristics because the older I get and the more set in my ways, these things can be more difficult. In conclusion, there are many different values and characteristics that make up a leader; as nurse leaders, it is important to assess and make sure those values and attributes are serving your community.
