Use the following case study for your Care Plan Assignment: Ms. V is a 35-year-old unmarried phlebotomy supervisor for a large medical company. Ms. V is 5’10” and weighs 54Kg. She has a two-year-old history of inflammatory bowel disease and has been hospitalized twice for exacerbations of intermittent diarrhea and colicky pain in the right lower quadrant. She appears anxious upon arrival at the emergency department and verbalizes frustration with the recurring problems. Ms. V also reports occasional periods of depression, she relates to the disease. In the emergency department, Ms. V’s vital signs on admission are: BP: 110/68 HR: 104 and regular Respt: 20 Temp: 38.3 C Ms. V experienced ten bloody bowel movements of moderate amounts accompanied by localised abdominal pain prior to arriving in the emergency department. An intravenous line with IV fluid of D5LR at 150ml/hr is initiated via a peripheral venous access. Ms. V is later seen by the emergency physician and a gastroenterologist for initial assessment and data collection to help determine the diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis.
