I am not a native English speaker, can you read my writting and edit for me college student level? Reflect on the following questions: How do you feel about praying with a patient? What type of prayers do you feel comfortable sharing with patients? Share your responses in the Wiki forum. Reply to a minimum of one main post As a Christian, I also know that prayer has tremendous power when someone is in a difficult situation, when they realize someone prays for them with all their heart. In particular, when a person’s ability is at a limit, if the patient or his guardian is a religious person, the prayer is more and more desperate for them, and it’s really like a ray of light for them. For example, let’s take an End of Life simulation we went through last time in our class. We were dealing with the patient who was facing death, the patient was almost unconscious, the fatient wife was only grieving, she didn’t need anythign when we offer different things and there wasn’t much we could do for her. At one point, I was just staying next to them, I didn’t even know what I should say to her. After the patient died, a student in our group asked his wife “Shall we pray together? ” and she replied, “Yes, please,” but none of us prayed aloud. maybe it was not a real situation or it’s a little bit of an awkward feeling? We only hold hands with each other and praying silently with closed eyes. After the simulation, that moment made me think about praying with a patient and I am willing to pray for the patient if that simulation happens to me in real nursing field. Frankly, I’m not used to praying out loud in front of anyone, and I’m not trained much in that kind of style of praying but if I can pray aloud, I think there is a positive side, if the patient or patient’s family can hear my prayer, it will touch their heart warmly, will help the patient heal further, it will also form a bond between the patient and the caregiver. If it’s hard to pray aloud, I think it’s a good way to share a short Bible verse about healing or a prayer phrase from the quote. This is reply to other student Victoria, thank you for mentioning a very important point. I have been attending the Baptist Church for a long time, and I am familiar with my own spiritual practice style, but I lack a lot of intellectuals and understanding of other religions. To be honest, I am a Christian attending the Baptist church. If another religious person or patient’s family asks me to pray for them or pray together, it’s impossible for me to infiltrate their religion, pray their way, or have a religious conversation, and I don’t think the patient will force me to do that either. However, as a means of healing or comforting the patient, I may be able to stay in a place where they are hold their hands and pray for the patient in silent own my way.
