Mr. Brian Jobe is a 70 year
Mr. Brian Jobe is a 70 year old man that has come to you after being discharged from the hospital following management for acute asthmatic attack. He has been or corticosteroids for over twenty years on and off for his asthma. He tells you that recently he has seen some changes in his vision that is cause for some concern. He found that he was sometimes having a dark spot at the centre of viewing and that reading was becoming difficult. He was also having trouble adjusting to dark rooms, difficulty focusing on near or distant objects and finds himself blinking or squinting due to unusual sensitivity to light or glare. He said he spoke to the doctor at the hospital who told him that it was nothing to worry about. List possible nursing diagnoses (must include a wellness diagnosis) I think this is similar to a care plan. Even though the patient has asthma he is not at the doctor for that. He is at the doctor for his vision/eye. So, the nursing diagnosis should be about the patient’s vision, you can talk about his asthma and medication but the focus is on his eyesight. This is what I came up with but I need help finalizing Nursing Diagnosis: (Please focus only on these diagnosis) • Disturbed Sensory Perception Risk for Injury • Anxiety: (Physiological factors such as changes in health status, the presence of pain and the patient’s reality of loosing his sight.) • Knowledge Deficient: (Lack of exposure. The patient may not be familiar with available resources or information may be misinterpreted).
