Death and dying are a normal part
Death and dying are a normal part of the human life experience and supporting a healthy death is one of the nurse’s most profound responsibilities. End of life care requires the development of a set of nursing skills that become the art of nursing practice. In developing these skills, nurses must self-reflect, address their own fears of death and unresolved grief, and develop a sense of inner strength. While your textbook and other assigned learning activities in this module address many of these important skills, you are encouraged to develop the art of caring for individuals and families at the end of life. Tasks Here you are asked to make a personal action plan for how you can better care for individuals at the end of life in your role as a professional nurse. Your plan should consist of at least 2 specific actions that you can take individually as a professional registered nurse (or currently as a nursing student). In a page, articulate these actions in a manner that can be evaluated. For example, “I will reflect on my own fears of caring for someone who is dying and journal about those fears to examine how they can be addressed…”
