Patient is a 36 y/o female admitted

Patient is a 36 y/o female admitted three days ago for a flare up of her inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Medical therapy was unable to resolve Ms. Brown’s IBD so she underwent surgery today for a colectomy. The surgery revealed an area of perforated bowel, and generalized peritonitis. A total of 3 inches of bowel was removed and a temporary colostomy was placed, a Jackson Pratt (JP) drain was also placed to drain the wound. Patient has an IV and NGT in place along with Oxygen at 2L/NC. Prior to the surgery the patient was very concerned about the possible colostomy and the change in body image that would result. Patient has a history of IBD and depression. All her IBD meds were stopped prior to surgery. 1. Develop a plan of care for patient’s hospital stay to include: two evidence-based nursing diagnosis, two priority short term and long-term goals, and any priority interventions necessary to return patient to full health. 2. Include a clinical trial that is relevant to this case.
