There has been a major influx of new people moving into the areas this hospital serves. The technology that was previously used was no longer making the cut for the enormous population increase. Kootenai was having different EHR systems for each medical office with little to no communication between them. Kootenai Heath did purchase a new EHR system to help provide patients with better care. This allows for individuals to travel outside the organization and those organizations that use this same EHR would have direct access to the patient’s medical information. The population that Kootenai Health serves and will be serving in the future is more tech-savvy and appreciates technological advancements. After all this organization stays in business by treating patients. If patients seek care elsewhere they are out of business. Kootenai Health has grown a lot in the past 10 years and continues to expand. As mentioned before the population the organization is now serving has grown and changed immensely.
