A merger would be a great idea since Magnolia is well known and admired in their community. That way the name still has its weight in the community but the brand is able to broaden their name and refer patients to the metro hospitals with a gain for them; also, the metro hospital would be able to recommend some patients to the local facility (Magnolia). Merging with a larger hospital would also give Magnolia the option to either adopt the culture of the metro hospital or have an diversification strategy come in to work on the culture that currently exist at Magnolia. Having a selfish attitude has been engrained at Magnolia because of their circumstances and having happy employees who feel free to share opinion and trust their co-workers and leadership would have a great effect not only on the employee but it would shine through to the patients. Magnolia has a great record with the community they serve and the care for their patients is an asset. It would be a good idea to keep this hospital operational for those who are not able to make it to the metro hospitals; it can become a micro hospital.
