Myrtle, age 75, is 5′ 1″ and weighs 180 lb. In addition, she has generalized degenerative arthritis. She is admitted for a lumbar laminectomy tomorrow. Her vitals are: T=97.8, P=90, R=18, P/P 166/94. She takes Atenolol100 mg bid. She is divorced and has no insurance. She lives alone in a 2 bedroom apartment. She no longer is able to drive because of her macular degeneration. Her children live in California. For Patient education please include: activity with laminectomy immediately post-op and at discharge Non-pharmacologic pain management- meditation.
