medication/healing practice The Indigenous medication that I chose is from a plant which is Alnus Species (alders). The medicinal plant is used as a healing practice by many Indigenous people. It interests me the most because just imagining what a plant’s bark can do is unbelievable. Today if you are dealing with 2-3 illnesses at a time you would have to take multiple medicines to get better. But alders can heal various illnesses just by the infusion of their bark. The plant bark is the main medicinal component, which is used as an emetic, laxative, and diuretic, for toothache, internal bleeding, hemorrhaging lungs, cramps, coughs, tuberculosis, mouth sores, and infection. Talking about Indigenous healing practices and medication, this type of therapy is important to them because they have known this knowledge for a long time and if you have your beliefs on something for a long time makes you practice that regularly forever. If you are dependent on traditional healing practices to heal, will make you feel better because you know that the therapy will help you get well. Therapy often reflects the spiritual and physical aspects of health and that is why it is important for the health of those who practice it. : 1.
