Responses You are required to give a minimum of two responses and follow the criteria listed below: Review how your classmates achieved each course competency and transferable skill. Identify new knowledge others gained you had not considered. Describe how this new knowledge could impact your nursing practice. Post 1 1.Design relevant, multidimensional nursing care for optimal health inclusive of client preferences, values, and beliefs. When providing relevant, multidimensional care for patients it is essential to take into consideration the patient’s physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs. Prioritization should be determined with use of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Using a multidimensional approach also increases the opportunity for all needs to be met to promote the best care possible to each patient to meet their needs. 2.Select approaches to client care which incorporate care and comfort, risk reduction, health promotion, and disease management. Many different approaches are implemented throughout nursing. I believe that the first step in incorporating any approach is education. Nurses and other healthcare workers need to be educated to properly provide care and, in turn, also educate patients, patient families, and caregivers. Having knowledge will provide a strong foundation to provide quality care. 3.Prioritize evidence-based, client-centered nursing care as a foundation for emotional, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. Staying current on trends, using clinical experience, and considering the patient’s expectations are all aspects to consider with evidence-based practice. Care for each patient should be individualized based on their emotional, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. 4.Utilize data-driven nursing care strategies inclusive of continuous quality improvement. Applying data-driven nursing care aids in contending with the constantly evolving healthcare system and all the methods within the system. Collaboration is a method that will allow for diversity to play a role in effectively providing patient care. 5.Synthesize components of clinical judgement, professional nursing identity, and reflective practice for lifelong learning. Applying clinical judgment could be a determining factor in the patient’s outcome. It provides the ability to determine what the priority is for each patient and how to care for that particular issue and what we need to do to ensure the patient receives the care they need pertaining to their issues based on level of priority. 6.Determine effective responses to clinical problems integrating information technology, evidence-based Every nurse will have resources available to them, it is the way that the resources are implemented in their practice that determines the quality of patient outcomes that will come from the resources available. Information technology improves patient-provider communication, aids in information delivery, improves patient compliance, and lowers readmissions. Evidence -based research is used by nurses to update protocols, reduce the risk of infection, and make educated decisions. Interprofessional collaboration enhances the quality of healthcare it involves communication between healthcare professionals of different practices and levels to provide safe and effective care. Response: Post 2: Design relevant, multidimensional nursing care for optimal health inclusive of client preferences, values, and beliefs. Multidimensional nursing care is what is ultimately best for the patient. Patient outcomes are drastically improved when we involve the patient. As a nurse, we must be culturally competent, and ethical. Multidimensional care involves multiple other entities. As a nurse, we must take care of the spiritual needs, psychological needs, and social needs of our patients. Case management is also a great resource that we can utilize to ensure that the patient gets any care needed at home upon discharge. Select approaches to client care which incorporate care and comfort, risk reduction, health promotion, and disease management. In my opinion, education is the CRUCIAL step for all these approaches. Patients and their families must have proper education as to why we need a flu vaccine, why we need to remove clutter, and so forth. Taking the time to ensure that your patient understands why we are doing the things we are doing and incorporating it into their daily lives. We need to drive home primary and secondary prevention to promote health promotion and disease management. Prioritize evidence-based, client-centered nursing care as a foundation for emotional, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. This course has brought a lot to light for my nursing career. I hadn’t really thought about the usage of evidence-based practice and how it is utilized to provide the most up-to-date, best care for client-centered care. Moving forward as a nurse I will strive to always stay up to the best evidence-based practice in providing care to all my patients. What is best currently may change in six months, so staying up to date is crucial. Utilize data-driven nursing care strategies inclusive of continuous quality improvement. Evidence is always evolving, so practices must change if they are to stay current. Quality improvement is utilized to systematically manage changes based on the data provided. As a nurse, we must utilize all resources that are available to be able to provide the best patient outcomes. Synthesize components of clinical judgement, professional nursing identity, and reflective practice for lifelong learning. As a nurse, we come into the profession knowing we are joining a career that encompasses lifelong learning. We learn new things every single day, as healthcare is always evolving. I learned that we start building our professional nursing identity when we start nursing school. Having the ability to be a good nurse and being a great nurse falls back on clinical judgment in my opinion. Not all nurses can work in an Emergency room, an ICU, or any specialized area without the ability to critically think and adapt. Determine effective responses to clinical problems integrating information technology, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and interprofessional collaboration. Utilize the resources that you have at your feet. Information technology is in place to quickly help staff with issues that can arise with technology. It is a resource that all hospitals have that can help you 24/7 when a situation arises. As nurses, we are always busy, and trying to troubleshoot a technology issue is not possible. Evidence-based practice is scientifically backed which ensures that it has been researched and proven to be the best option for care. Quality improvement is meant to help and not meant to be punitive. Knowing that quality improvement is an outside source that researches processes and what needs to happen to improve outcomes. Collaboration is also a must in nursing, as nurses, we should collaborate with physicians, pharmacies, and all other entities that are involved in the patient’s care.
