The health topic that I am choosing

The health topic that I am choosing is the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason why I chose this topic is that it is a social issue that rose to a level that affected everybody. Many factors play into the detrimental effects of COVID-19 and how it has played in the world over recent years. The factors that had the most impact on COVID-19 becoming so widespread are increased population and close-quarter gatherings among individuals and the need for more reliable information and action once information has been received. Covid 19 was a disease that originated in Asia and made its way worldwide. All communicable diseases require a tremendous amount of time before they are capable of being spread over vast areas. Given the knowledge that we knew of the situation and how quickly it was spreading, more timely action could have been taken to slow down or even prevent the spread of this disease to certain countries and locations. It is hard to say that appropriate intervention can be done to prevent such spread given the vast population and how easily COVID-19 can spread, but there seemed to be little action done until the world governments agreed to a lockdown. When this was decided, the number of COVID-19 diagnoses had already increased to unmanageable, along with many casualties and deaths(Laskiewicz, 2020). Given the presidency at the time, it appeared that not much concern for such a disease was evident and displayed to the public. Although other countries were stating the severity and how rapid the growth of the disease and spread was, few actions were taken by the president at the time. At the same time, fake news and fear were the rationales for this real and frightening disease plaguing the world. Actions were eventually made to increase the development of vaccines as well as quarantining and better hygiene techniques which led to the overall decrease of the contagion. Still, the majority of the damage has already been done(Stockemer, Plank, Neimann, 2021). Focusing energy on preventing complications rather than dealing with them when they arise provides A more convenient window that can decrease damage done and provide more control over the potentially manageable situation(Stockemer, Plank, Neimann, 2021). If I were president at the time of COVID-19, there would be several things that I would have preferred to have done differently. One of the things that I would prefer to change was that when information was received from other countries, given the severity of the situation and how widespread it is affecting other countries, I believe it would warrant meet to take action in order to protect the well-being of my country and the people. I would also encourage and educate the people of my country on the way to decrease the spread of such a disease, as well as start early research and strategies to keep the country safe. In addition, I will also be as transparent as possible with my people on the subject at hand so that they are just as educated and informed as I am on any topic. The world can prevent many issues if people become more knowing.
