I NEED A REPLY TO THIS COMMENT HOW WOULD YOU RESPOND TO THE BELOW POST? original task: You will need a post that addresses the following: Qualitative research often is viewed as not having the same rigor and adherence to objective standards as quantitative studies. Using the references provided to assist you, prep4re an argument to either support or refute this claim and post it to the Discussion. In your response, explain if qualitative research does or does not have the controls needed to generate the results that contribute to the nursing knowledge base. Then, explain if qualitative research could be used to investigate the patient safety problem you identified in Week 1. Week 4 discussion initial post Qualitative and quantitative research most often have different purposes. While quantitative research is traditioned in mathematics and high rigor with statistical application, it may seem easier to verify findings as more objective and reproducible than qualitative research (Rutberg & Bouikidis, 2018). However, the transparency that can accompany qualitative research can lead to meaningful findings about people and various phenomena that might not otherwise be known (Tomaszewski et al., 2020). Rather than making inferences and generalizations, based on numbers and statistical findings, people consider the trustworthiness of qualitative methods, steps, findings, and reports (Birt et al., 2016). Hence, over time people developed ways to heighten the trustworthiness of qualitative research and the degree to which it may be transferable depends on the transparency of the researcher and the prudent judgments of readers (Tomaszewski et al., 2020). My research from week one was: How does adopting bedside handover communication training to support practical patient-centered care affect nursing attitudes and behaviors regarding bedside handover practices and tools? As mentioned in week one, the study could occur in stages, collecting data from nurses before, during, and following the intervention period. The purpose of this qualitative study would be to explore the attitudes and perceptions of nurses concerning the communication training and the effectiveness of the training and tools for improving patient‐centered bedside handovers, with the aim to reduce communication challenges and adverse events. While it is possible to use close-ended surveys to collect information about attitudes and perceptions, a qualitative study could help to illuminate the depth of attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors, through interviews and focus groups. Qualitative research findings don’t limit findings to that derived from numerical close-ended indicators (McGrath et al., 2019). The qualitative methodology also enables conclusions to be drawn from relatively small samples who can share experiences that could reveal challenges, barriers, concerns, or factors that were not previously known. Qualitative research facilitates opportunities to consider context and to ask for clarifications and engage in probing techniques, which could lead to more information that could be meaningful to stakeholders, future researchers, and to solving the problem (McGrath et al., 2019). Ideas could emerge from qualitative research that might not have been considered in quantitative approaches (Rutberg & Bouikidis, 2018). Hence, a qualitative study could be the most appropriate approach to answering the related research . SCIENCE HEALTH SCIENCE NURSING NURS 3151
