I NEED A REPLY TO THIS COMMENT HOW WOULD YOU RESPONSE TO THE BELOW POST? Research is an important skill to have in the nursing industry in order to keep up with the ever-changing best evidence-based practice. For the week 1 discussion board I used the patient safety issue of correct patient identification. The search for scholarly information was made easy by using the Walden University Library. To begin with, I narrow my search by choosing nursing as the subject of my research and then use key words to find relevant information. For last week’s discussion board, I searched the terms patient safety and then added a sub search of patient identification and error prevention as advised in the Introduction to nursing research media (Walden University Library, 2019). To narrow down the number of articles to the most relevant and recent, I put the years 2017-2022 in the filter. After narrowing my search, it resulted in sixty-five articles that met the search criteria. Then began the tedious task of reviewing the articles for exactly what I was looking for. The longest part of any writing assignment is always finding the article that is just right. Lots of the articles that showed up from the search did not address exactly what I was looking for to add to my stance of patient identification needs. Most of the articles only addressed patient identification in regard to surgery or medication errors as the only patient safety concerns. Because of how many articles my search resulted in, I used the title of the papers/articles and their abstracts to quickly decide if the article was worth reading. This was helpful in saving me precious time off to do homework. In the real-world setting, we as nurses have to be able to find policies and information on treatments or diseases that we are unfamiliar with. As a nurse, it is important to continuously learn and broaden our knowledge, especially with how fluid the medical field can be with changes and improvements in all areas. Sometimes finding information for real-world application can be difficult, but many hospitals have their own company websites that make information available to their staff with a touch of a button. However, if I was unable to find the information that I needed by using the hospitals employee websites, then my unit nurse educator would be my next step. The hospital nurse educator is another resource available to find information and continue the learning process. SCIENCE HEALTH SCIENCE NURSING NURS 3151
