My decision to finish my education has been long overdue. Initially, I completed my LPN in 2014 and spent several years slowly working on classes. In the spring of 2020, I decided to finish my ASN at Fortis. After finishing, I took some time off and focused on bedside nursing. At this time, I am working on obtaining my BSN with GCU and later Nurse Practitioner. I worry that I am an older nontraditional student. Throughout, my life I also struggled with what was once labeled as a slow learner. As an adult, that label was changed to ADHD. I have chosen not to allow this label to define me or hold back. I am very good at math and sciences. My struggles have been writing and grammar. Knowing that I struggle with this area will require me to use my resources and ask for feedback. Sanders (2019), noted that many online programs provide these needed and valuable tools to students. During my studies, it will be vital that I use reputable sources for my writing. As noted by the GCU, Dynamics of Nursing, to be successful in obtaining my BSN I will need to effectively write research papers. This method of writing will require me to obtain information from proper sources, then communicate my understanding of the knowledge on the paper. The papers will need to be properly quoted and sourced to avoid plagiarism. Allowing myself time to work on the assignments is also something I am going to have to focus on. Also, maintaining a schedule and staying on top of due dates will be vital during this fast-paced program.
