Summarise a systematic review and develop a pamphlet-style Best Practice

Summarise a systematic review and develop a pamphlet-style Best Practice Information sheet In this, source a systematic review from a Library Database that is related to ASTHMA and relevant to nursing practice. Summarise this evidence into a “Plain English” Best Practice Sheet, including recommendations and implications for practice. NB: your Best Practice Information Sheet is targeted at RNs and their practice. NB: Please do not structure as an essay as looking for a Best Practice Sheet that is written in plain English and would be able to be easily accessible to RNs. What to include Title • Best Practice Information Sheet on (title of the systematic review) Recommendations for practice • This information is typically provided in a table up front – as it is the most important part of the Best Practice Sheet. • NB: A grade of recommendation should be listed for EVERY recommendation What are Grades of Recommendation? Grade Description Criteria A- High-quality evidence Based on systematic reviews that include high-quality studies (e.g., well-conducted RCTs or high-quality cohort studies). The review is thorough, with a clear methodology and consistent results. B- Moderate Quality Evidence Based on systematic reviews with moderate-quality studies. The review process is sound but may include studies with some limitations or inconsistencies in results. C- Low-Quality Evidence Based on systematic reviews that include low-quality studies or have significant methodological flaws. The evidence is less reliable, with potential biases or inconsistencies. D- Insufficient Evidence Based on systematic reviews with insufficient data or methodological issues, or where no relevant reviews are available. Recommendations are based on indirect evidence or expert opinion. Information Source Use wording similar to that shown below – this is showing where you found the systematic review and confirming that the Best Practice Sheet is based on a systematic review. This Best Practice Information Sheet is a summary of evidence derived from a systematic review published in YEAR and NAME OF JOURNAL OR WEBSITE. Background (TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE HUNDRED FIFTY WORDS) • This section will contain information about the gap in the evidence and why the researchers decided to do review • This section can be refined from the background of the original systematic review. It must NOT be a copy and paste. • The Background should give a clear and well-defined snapshot of the issue and context at hand and also give a clear indication of the direction the BPIS is going. The background should set out to the reader: • What the issue/field/topic is and what interventions will be discussed (issue/intervention); Who this relates to (population); • Why the issue is important (outcomes); • Where this is relevant (context); • How the issue can be approached/addressed via health practice. Objectives/Aims • What was the aim of the systematic review Phenomena of interest/Types of intervention (SEVENTY FIVE- ONE HUNDRED WORDS) • A Best Practice Sheet drawn from qualitative research should clearly state the phenomena of interest – what is the review looking at? For example, in a systematic review that looks at low-impact exercise in people experiencing chronic pain – the phenomena of interest would be low-impact exercise. • A Best Practice Sheet drawn from quantitative research should clearly state the intervention(s) used. For example, a systematic review that looks at the use of tap water versus normal saline – the intervention would be normal saline. NB: If you aren’t sure what type of research your systematic review is based on check with your tutor first and/or the subject coordinator(s) Quality of the research (EIGHTY- ONE HUNDRED WORDS) • This section reports the number of papers/studies included in the original systematic review and the total number of participants. Other important details to include are limitations of the review – study or sampling methods and data reporting. • Overall comments on the quality of included papers can be made here. • This section can also report on the assessment and extraction of data by the reviewers See the example wording below: Example: All included papers were assessed by two independent reviewers using standardized assessment tools and criteria. Six papers were selected after assessment; four studies used mixed methods approaches and two used qualitative methods. Only qualitative evidence was incorporated into the review. The quality of the included studies was generally high, with all studies using interviews to collect data. One study also used observational methods. Findings/Results (SIX HUNDRED FIFTY- SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY WORDS) • This will tell the reader what the researchers found. • It will set out each of the major findings arising from the results/findings of the systematic review as well as provide some context to the findings. • It is important that the evidence and detail provided in the Best Practice Sheet supports/underpins the recommendations that are made in the Best Practice Sheet (that means the recommendations should be logical and make sense to the reader). • The section should begin with brief details of how many studies and findings contributed to each major finding See the example wording below: Quantitative example: All included studies compared neonatal outcomes following waterbirth and land birth. The included studies were published between 1999 and 2013. The studies were conducted in a range of countries, including the United Kingdom (n=3), Switzerland (n=2), South Africa (n=2), Australia (n=2), Turkey (n=1), Austria (n=1) and Italy (n=1). Meta-analyses of 12 studies were able to be performed and demonstrated that for the majority of outcomes measured, there was little difference between waterbirth and land birth groups. Heterogeneity was significant between studies for APGAR (Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration) scores
