Read the scenario and answer the following question. Scenario: Fran

Article one As the chief executive officer (CEO) of a healthcare facility, I would see numerous opportunities to support risk management efforts. One key area would be fostering a culture of safety by promoting open communication and encouraging staff to report potential risks without fear of retribution. By implementing regular training sessions and ensuring that all employees understand the importance of adhering to safety protocols, I could help reduce the likelihood of errors and improve overall patient safety. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in advanced technologies that enhance risk management, such as electronic health records (EHR) systems that reduce medication errors and streamline patient data management. However, I might anticipate resistance in several forms. Employees might be reluctant to adopt modern technologies or procedures, particularly if they perceive these changes as time-consuming or disruptive to their routines. There may also be pushback from budgetary committees if the necessary investments for risk management are seen as too costly. In my experience, promoting transparency and involving all stakeholders in the decision-making process can mitigate some of this resistance. For instance, Trisnawati et al. (2023) emphasize that effective risk management disclosure is linked to the characteristics and initiative-taking involvement of the CEO, which aligns with my approach of being direct and transparent. On the other hand, some research, such as Tran et al. (2024), suggests that CEOs with significant power might take more risks, potentially leading to resistance if these risks are perceived as undermining safety efforts. While I understand the importance of a CEO’s influence, I believe that balancing assertiveness with a commitment to safety is crucial in the healthcare setting. Article two According to PwC’s Global Risk Survey, organizations that embrace strategic risk management are five times more likely to deliver stakeholder confidence and better business outcomes and two times more likely to expect faster revenue growth (Gibson, 2023). As a home health supervisor is essential to centralize the importance of risk management support within my organization. Risk management is the systematic process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating threats or uncertainties that can affect your organization, it involves analyzing risks’ likelihood and impact, developing strategies to minimize harm, and monitoring measures’ effectiveness (Gibson, 2023). Factors of risk management that I have prioritized include open dialog between my staff and myself to enhance decision making. Protecting the facilities reputation by implementing strategic guidelines to avoid misconduct and creating a system that focuses on the safety and growth of the organization to minimize losses. Other changes that I would implement would include tracing the number of favorable outcomes verses the alternative. Next, I would follow up with the results in order to demonstrate the benefits to employees who might be reluctant to change. I would also talk with my staff to develop a standard that must be reached in order to continuously address barriers that could divert us from meeting company goals. Each of these things in my opinion as a leader could assist in getting everyone on board with change but also acknowledging and implementing changes at a mutually agreed upon pace for smoother transition. A recent survey conducted by McKinsey’s Global Board Survey for 2017, revealed that risk management remains a relatively low-priority topic at board meetings, (Gius, Mieszala, Panayiotou, Poppensieker, 2018). In my organization I find it significantly important to constantly analysis risk in order to better eliminate massive interruption in the workplace. The evolution of the health care industry is rapidly growing therefore risk management protocols are critical to the success of the organization. Leadership must encourage innovation as modern technology has proven to be a more efficient way to deliver satisfying care universally. In my experience risk management consist of an open-minded perspective from leadership to combat barriers that do not align with meeting the need to create a more reformed health care system for the future.
