INSTRUCTIONS Please note that you are expected to answer the
Healthcare Clinic You have been approached by the Mayor of a major metropolitan area to improve healthcare outcomes in one of their poorer sections of their city. This area is below the average wage for that city, has a mixed ethnic population, is above average in household density and below average in the quality of housing. According to publically available police records, there are street gangs present. Healthcare problems abound in areas of frequent flu outbreaks, gang related shootings, venereal disease, and possible lead based poisoning from substandard housing. The city has asked that you locate a healthcare clinic appropriate to the demographics and needs of this area in order to improve healthcare outcomes for this population. This facility must be readily accessible to this target population and located no more than a 15 minute “commute” for any resident either by foot, car, bus, trolley or underground subway. The city will provide all funding to develop this facility, will rezone the land plus provide funding for the land necessary to house a 5,000 square foot multi-story complex (note: this means that you do not need to consider these latter elements in this exercise). The Mayor would like you to present a location proposal to the City Planning Commission within three weeks so you need to get moving on this. Your challenge is to consider the planning parameters associated with this challenge and develop a site proposal for locating this healthcare clinic facility. â— Refer to and access free data at any of the following: â—‹ ArcGIS Open Data Portal, at Hub ArcGIS. â—‹ Tableau. â—‹ Kaggle, a repository of data that is available freely and has a robust series of opportunities to test various data science practice problems. â—‹ Home of the U.S. Government’s Open Data has freely available datasets focusing on the environment, economy, healthcare), employment, demographics, etc. â—‹ Google Dataset Search, a search engine for free public datasets. â—‹ Data World is a data catalog service that makes it easy to collaborate on data projects. Most of these projects make their datasets available for free. â— Integrate information from readings, videos, and any external resources for support. â— Feel free to draw in additional resources (properly cited) as develop responses. â— Introduction and objective: Describe the scenario you have selected in a general context and why you selected this. Explain the problem that is being faced. â— Project Plan: Outline approach to the problem, who your potential stakeholders are, the datasets and what would seek to draw out of them, and how would combine and assess the data to address the scenario. â—‹ Note each dataset that will be used in data model and how these will be useful in answering the fundamental question(s) relevant in the scenario. â— Data Model (in the form of a flow-chart/visual representation) â— Analytical Report (include at least one of the following): cost benefit analysis, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis, geographic information systems (GIS)/spatial data analysis, and/or an environmental scan of the approach to the problem. â— Reflection â—‹ Given what drew from the readings and research, discuss how envision project planning/management and data modeling helping to address the business scenario you selected. â—‹ How might data analysis and geospatial information give the business a competitive edge over those who do not have geospatial knowledge? â— Conclusion: Summary indicating the scenario, application of the data model and approach, and further thoughts on addressing this scenario.
