I have addressed many of the Program Learning Outcomes PLOs throughout my titled courses. Some courses that I remember at the beginning of my quest for this degree, I learned so much about the context and quality of healthcare delivery. I have written so many papers about population health and the impacts on behavioral, demographic and cultural factors. I loved comparing our healthcare system to other countries. Assignments and Discussions on cultural factors have opened my mind about having to make health care available for everyone and ways to help those in need without accessibility to healthcare organizations. An example of an assignment that I completed in Current Issues in Healthcare Policy and Practice was a PowerPoint presentation on the Comparisions on local healthcare facilities where I live. I learned so much about the organizations close to where I do reside. I was happy to learn more about the medical facilities, which ones I would recommend to friends and family. I learned that my county ranked 94th out of 100 counties in my state. I learned which factifies are good and ones that aren’t. The most meaningful outcomes, discussions, and assignments were the ones learning about Healthcare Quality and Safety. We had to choose a topic for external factors for healthcare services. The topic I chose was Health Insurance. This was important to me because there was a time where I did have Medicaid and no copays, and everything was paid for even when it was out of my hands but then I moved up int he world and had a job with benefits where they take out fees for insurance and what not out of our checks. This hurts the middle-class people the most where a person who has no job but gets all the benefits anyway, then what is the point in being a normal person in today’s world. It’s not fair for the working class to have to pay for everyone else’s healthcare. That was my opinion, and I didn’t mean to offend anyone. But I do understand the concept much better now. How I would incorporate what I learned throughout my educational journey is for insurance is going to be understanding more about healthcare insurances so that I can teach others how insurance works. The ins and outs of insurance for the state that I reside in, which is North Carolina. On top of attending Walden University, I am also attending the N.C. state Medical and Life insurance classes to become certified and be able to help others with this topic.
