Mary was diagnosed with osteoporosis several years ago and has been taking calcium and vitamin D supplements. She was also on a PPI (Omeprazole) for acid reflux. No allergies PMH: Osteoporosis, GERD Meds: Calcium and Vitamin D Checking Bone Density: A dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan was done to check the bone mineral density (BMD) at the hip and lumbar spine. This confirmed that the person had osteoporosis. An X-ray of her lumbar spine confirmed the presence of 2 remote lumbar compression fractures.
