Therapeutics: The medications I would prescribe is Metoprolol 25mg and either baby aspirin or 5mg of Apixaban , depending on the patient’s risk for a stroke( Jones & Round, 2022). Education: I would educate the patient on a cardiac diet and the side effects of Metoprolol which is shortness of breath, wheezing, swelling of the hands and feet. I would also explain the side effects of Apixaban which are bleeding gum, nose bleeds, red, pink or brown urine, swelling or joint pain and rash. I would also explain the possibility of having GI bleeds of looking for dark stool or if vomiting up coffee ground emesis (Jones & Round,2022). Consult: I would have the patient be referred to a cardiologist, electrophysiologist and a hematologist.
