ETHICAL OBLIGATIONS As part of the services provided, ABC Child Care Centre’s Educators are responsible for the following ethical obligations: â–ª Appreciate childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle. • Demonstrate the ability to promote the health and safety of all children, build positive relationships with children, families and co-educators and should have a strong knowledge of children’s learning, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQA). • Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing a high quality, playbased, developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster physical, cognitive, and emotional development to the children. • Apply different methods to adapt to the different needs of individual children. â–ª Ensure that children are not harmed. Conduct practices that are not emotionally damaging; physically harmful, disrespectful, degrading, dangerous, exploitative, or intimidating to children. • Identify any behavioural and cognitive difficulties that children may present and apply the necessary corrections and methods. • Devote extra time to children with special needs. • Track and report children’s health, safety, and well-being inside the centre and, if possible, at home. Cooperate among professionals and agencies and practice interdisciplinary collaboration among professions concerned with addressing issues in the health, education, and well-being of young children, their families, and their early childhood educators. • Report any abusive situation to the Nominated Supervisor or the Director, who will then report it to appropriate authorities. • Provide unbiased report to the relevant authorities and ensure that the guidelines for written documentation relevant in the state are followed. • Consult with colleagues, health practitioners, and the supervisor to confirm if the suspicion poses a real risk to the child’s safety, health, and well-being. • Participate in seminars and forum regarding the reporting protocols and process for child abuse to become aware of the legal responsibilities associated in their role. • Follow the child protection policy implemented in the centre. â–ª The Services will also include any other responsibilities which the Parties may agree on. The staff hereby agrees to provide such services to the children and families part of this agreement. Refer to the Ethical Obligations portion and identify two obligations of an Early Childhood Educator in line with identifying and responding to children at risk.
