CPT CODE Direct laryngoscopy and biopsy of vocal cord lesion using an operating microscope The patient was placed on the operating table in the supine position, induced under general anesthesia, and intubated. The Dedo laryngoscope was introduced into the oral cavity, slipped under the tip of the epiglottis, and suspended from the Lewy suspension apparatus. The lesion involved the entire left vocal cord and extended through the ventricle to the false vocal cord and into the anterior commissure area. It also slightly involved the anterior portion of the right vocal cord. In addition, some subglottic extension was present. A biopsy was taken and sent out for frozen section. The laryngoscope was then removed and the procedure terminated. The patient tolerated the procedure well and left the OR in good condition.
