reply to this discussion After watching the educational video describing the history of Medicare, I learned many new things about the evolution of this healthcare system. The video explains the hardships during the Great Depression, dated 1929, due to medical bill costs. This catastrophe allowed Medicare to evolve in our everyday lives. I was surprised to learn that Medicare did not have an easy past, and it is still being challenged to this day. I was surprised to learn that Congress stepped in and made new requirements in following the Medicare plan around the early 2000s. Specifically, in 2003, the Medicare Modernization Act was created.
