Daniel returns this afternoon for a follow-up visit to read the PPD that was administered on earlier this week and to review his lab results. PPD: nonreactive. Chest x-ray is within normal limits. Four punch biopsies were performed earlier this week: two for tissue culture and two for histopathologic examination. Wound cultures from the pustules on his abdomen were obtained. LAB RESULTS: Tissue and wound cultures taken from the abdomen and the left face revealed the diagnosis. DX: Tinea barbae secondary to Trichophytin mentagrophytes RX: Grisofluven 500 mg, daily for three weeks; topical antifungal cream and low-dose steroid x 7 days.
