Another factor that influences a person’s decision to help in an emergency situation (particularly a medical one) is the fear of being liable if something goes wrong and/or the helper’s action further harm the person in distress. I’m wondering how many of you are aware of Good Samaritan laws that every state (I believe, maybe Kentucky doesn’t have one?) has implemented to help protect people that assist in emergencies. Do you think the rate of helping behavior might increase if these laws were marketed and/or advertised in some way to bring awareness to this protection? Link to a summary of each state’s statute:
