Approach was made to the distal anterior aspect of the lower leg, utilizing previous old surgical scar in a slightly curvilinear fashion. Sharp dissection was taken down through the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The previous open wound area, measuring approximately 1 1/2 cm in widest diameter, directly over one of the methyl methacrylate beads, was easily discernible. Utilizing meticulous sharp and blunt dissection, the entire anteromedial antibiotic impregnated methacrylate bead construct was removed.
