Assessment 3- Observation of Performance Skills Instruction to Students: Demonstrate the following performance skills in Task 1 and 2 under the observation of workplace assessor. If you are deemed not yet competent on your 1st attempt you will be given feedback on your performance and a new time for a 2nd attempt assessment will be organised. Dependent on your performance feedback you may be requested to attend additional training prior to your 2nd attempt. If you are deemed not yet competent after your 2nd attempt you will be provided with additional research skills training until your assessor feels you are ready for your 3rd attempt assessment. Assessment conditions: Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions. The following conditions must be met for this unit: use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including current research, evidence-based studies and industry intelligence In a simulated learning environment Task 1 You are requested to complete a research activity for the scenario listed below and develop actions based on research outcomes for the issue. You must complete the table below based on the research activity you conduct. Clinical Scenario 1 You work in a community centre as a community service worker. Your job role includes performing home visits and consulting with clients in regards to their service delivery. Recently due to a Covid outbreak, some of the clients are hesitant to have case managers/ community service workers at their home. You have proposed using smart phones for video consultation with clients. However, some of your colleagues criticised the idea, saying it won’t work. You decided to conduct some research of your own and gather some evidence based information on using smart phones for consultations with client. One of her patients is 85-year-old George who suffers from Arthritis. He often complains of pain which has limited his mobility and independence. You suggest he visit his GP and possibly get a referral to a pain specialist for conventional pain medications, however, the client strongly believes in complementary therapy, such as traditional Chinese acupuncture which he believes should help relieve the pain. You have had no experience with complementary therapy and decide to conduct some research, and find out evidence based documentation that supports the use of traditional Chinese acupuncture in pain management for arthritis, and determine its effectiveness over for conventional pain medications to support your clients wish to use complementary therapy to manage his pain.
