Comment on article offering further critique or support to the relevance. 1. The purpose of this article is to explore the communication needs of parents/children in the pediatric oncology ward. The study focused on 8 components of strong communication: building relationships, exchanging information, enabling family self-management, providing validation, managing uncertainty, responding to emotions, supporting hope and making decisions. 2. The type of design used was a case study. The research method included telephone interviews with parents/caregivers. 3.Researchers interviewed 78 caregivers of children under 18 who were receiving treatment for cancer in St.Louis, Memphis, and Boston. They recruited caregivers via mail, telephone, and in person. 4. They used thematic analysis when interpreting data. 5. The results of the study highlighted important aspects of parent communication and the parent-child relationship. Providing validation for caregivers, helping families maintain hope, and creating lasting relationships proved to be important communication needs. 6.This study can help healthcare providers better meet the emotional needs of children and their families through communication. The results of this study are unique are limited research has been done on communication in pediatric oncology.
