Participation in Research Assignment For this assignment, I chose to participate in an online research project that examined the correlation between workplace climate and self-esteem. I chose this assignment because I am interested in establishing variables contributing to a successful work environment. In this paper, I will reflect on my experience undertaking the online survey. For this survey, I enrolled in a survey conducted on Survey Circle by the University of Doon on human subjects. The study was conducted by the University’s Department of social sciences and was headed by Dr. Rajesh Bhatt. The survey’s target audience was populations who have worked under and supervisor/manager. The survey explored the workplace relationship between staff workers and management. The survey’s data points included assessing if the staff worker felt included in the decision-making process. The surveyor wanted to know if the participant’s management ever asked the participant’s opinion on workplace issues, if the participant felt included in the decision-making process and how strongly the participant felt about each . The consent process for Survey Circle involved my agreeing to be honest in my qualifications and answers. My rights included the understanding that all of the survey’s research data is stored on servers in Germany, the data is not passed on to third parties, and there is no data exchange to third parties. After signing the consent, I completed the online survey in less than 10 minutes. Though the survey caused me to reflect on my past roles in communication with management, I did not feel triggered. I have held more than one job, so the study allowed me to contrast the styles of management I have encountered. For example, I have had managers and supervisors that were inclusive in workplace decision-making. During the survey, I was asked what I thought about issues such as employee relations, the organization’s methods of operation, and what intervention I thought would improve the workplace. In contrast, I have had authoritarian managers who stated that if nurses do not like how the administration conducts organizational operations, they should leave, no questions asked.
