Hi team, could someone please help me with an overview
Can you please reword the following paragraph at a intermediate college level? Nociceptive pain is unique in its pathophysiology as it is caused by damage to somatic or visceral tissues. Superficial somatic pain often is used to describe superficial injuries (sunburns or abrasions) (Harding et al., 2022). This pain is usually caused by disruption of the skin’s mucus membranes and subcutaneous tissue, resulting in a localized but sharp, burning, or prickly sensation. On the other hand, within the nociceptive pain category there is also an aching or throbbing pain that is referred to as deep somatic pain. As the name suggests, this sensation originates from muscles, bones, connective tissues, and tendons. Common examples of this type of pain include arthritis, tendonitis, or myofascial pain (Harding et al., 2022). It is the damaged tissues that stimulate nearby nociceptor neurons usher in a cascade of chemicals/neurotransmitters to carry this signal up through the spinal cord and into the brain’s pain centers to alert the body of the injury (Chen et al., 2023). The final subcategory is known as visceral pain, which is the result of nociceptors being activated in the internal organs and lying of the body cavities. In this case, the tissue damage is often caused by inflammation, stretching and poor perfusion leading to tissue ischemia (Harding et al., 2022).
