HOW TO REPLY TO THIS DISCUSSION My research project is defining the difference between the care received from a OB in comparison to a midwife, and does it positively effect birthing outcomes. The independent variable is this project is the care received from these two healthcare professionals, and the dependent variable is the outcome of the care on the birthing experience. I planned to collect data thru surveys of patients of both OBs and midwives, as well as compare and contrast the birthing outcomes that provided patients with the most positve experience. I do believe that the individualized and interpersonal care received from midwives helps their patients feel heard, enables a trustworthy bond between the two, and the greatly impacts their birthing experince, in a positive way. Quantitative research designs seek to discover ” how many” or “how much” of something there is. It deals with the objective numerical data like statistical tests, experiments, and hypothetical testing. Testing such as A/B testing, analytics, online surveys, and eye-tracking studies. This data can be used in unscientific ways. The purpose of carrying out quantitative research is to identify the relationship that exists between one variable to another, to test a strategy or design, and to described an event ot phenomenon being tested. It main characteristics are the data are collected through use of organized research instruments, the findings are based on sample sizes that are enough to provide an accurate reflectionof the total population. Due to the reliability of the study it can be repleicated. The questions asked of the study are well defined, making it easier to answer. Data is presented in form of tables, charts, and figures in order to be analyzed statistically. With the use of the quantitative research design, I hope to be able to organize the data collected from the study. Doing so investigator will be able to easily draw conclusions based on these results. “Quantitative research design aims at finding answers to who, what, where, how, and when through the course of research. Moreover, the outcome of the quantitative research is easy to represent in the form of statistics, graphs, charts, and numbers.” A correalational design would be appropriate as we compare the variables.
