how would you respond to this? In the nursing world, many institutions and clinical sites are made up of findings obtained by nursing organizations and use organizations as frameworks and guidelines. Each organization has its purpose and goal, and while all of them are beneficial to this profession, some may be a “better fit” than others when it comes to their mission and purpose. Two organizations that are significant to nursing are the World Health Organization (WHO) and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN). The World Health Organization (WHO) was developed on April 7th and is focused on providing leadership on global health by assessing health trends, monitoring health, and tailoring research. (WHO, 2014, para 1). QSEN provides future nurses with the necessary tools to develop strong nursing foundations to allow top-quality care to be delivered to patients. Knowledge, skills, and attitudes are incorporated to make a nurse well-rounded (Quality and Safety Education for Nurses, 2020). Both organizations have a great influence on the nursing practice of students and current nurses. In school, both are mentioned and form part of the teachings. For example, during my nursing program, QSEN made up several assignments where students had to use real examples from clinical and incorporate quality and safety education. They also give a basis to students and what is expected from nurses when it comes to delivering safe quality care. In research, the WHO is appropriate to rely on for information as they are a worldwide entity that overlooks many ongoing cases concerning health and uses it for studies to improve care. For instance, during the pandemic of COVID-19, the WHO participates in many aspects relevant to COVID-19 and gives the most up-to-date information (World Health Organization, 2022). These organizations as previously mentioned, provide useful and accurate information that becomes a strong resource for the health care system. The WHO is reliable for clinical environments to implement science-based policies and evidenced-based care while the QSEN organization is great for schools to prepare students with high expectations to become strong nurses. Ferguson (2013), stated that the WHO has strengthened nurses to ensure delivery and performance of healthcare are being met by the population. This ensures that the WHO provides a great basis of information for improving the nursing world. As a nurse, I would support both organizations because they are strong and reliable, and in my experience, very effective. The WHO is constantly updating the public with new findings and monitoring concerns to the public and QSEN forms a strong base for delivering safe and quality care to patients. To conclude, several nursing organizations are beneficial to the nursing world. The two organizations that are very effective and demonstrated great influence on nursing are the QSEN and WHO.
