For reference LAST SUBMITTED CASE STUDY AS FOLLOWS Problem Outlined in the Case Study- Improving Hospital Inpatient Nursing Care The case study outlines a quality improvement initiative at a large, urban medical center in a Midwest state. The medical center was facing a crisis due to an increase in patient dissatisfaction, as well as a decrease in patient satisfaction scores. In addition, the medical center was struggling with high operational costs and a decrease in patient volumes. This report tells the large urban hospital that used an iterative, six-step quality improvement (QI) process to successfully change the way its registered nurses, nursing assistants, and other nursing staff provided emotional support to the hospital’s adult, medical and surgical inpatients. The goal of the quality improvement initiative was to improve patient satisfaction and operational efficiency in order to increase patient volumes.
