Link the theory you developed in Weeks 2 and 5 with the Metaparadigm of Nursing. Each of the elements of the Metaparadigm should be represented in your theory. Revise your theory if necessary to include each of the components of the Metaparadigm. In week 2 discussion, my theory was time management in nursing tasks (Concept A) reduces interruptions in workflow and results in the appropriate handling of care to the patients (Concept B). Nurses are able to level up their performances if we are able to prioritize, organize, and plan better and manage our time in work and produce a higher quality of care for our patients (Celebi & AlkaÅŸ, 2022). Nurses are expected to work smarter and not harder and by applying these time management skills we are able to face adversaries that are crucial in our scope of work especially in critical care or in days that are buzzing with patients. We nurses are considered to be the frontline of patient care (Kollstedt 2019). A nurse should also be mentally prepared for what’s to come and should be able to relax and socialize without holding back or hesitation to work more efficiently, a better balance in professional and personal life (Nayak 2018). Using the C-T-E structure, my theory is mainly focused on strongly implementing time management in order to align a nurse’s daily task and be able to carry them all out in a given time frame both efficiently and effectively. My theory points out to identify the different difficulties, interruptions and distractors that greatly affects the nurse’s ability to properly perform the appropriate treatment or care to our patients and also be able to correct these. Priorities are to be labelled as high, medium, and low during each shift as to keep the workflow organized and balanced and to prevent errors (Kollstedt 2019). Lastly, interruptions should also be removed as they can impair the nurse’s concentration and decision-making process which would make it difficult to complete tasks properly (Monteiro et al., 2020).
