Mr. Louis Mitchell was a 67-year-old man
Mr. Louis Mitchell was a 67-year-old man born on July 26, 1955, who was transferred from Rural Health Clinic to Acute Care Medical Facility with respiratory distress. In Rural Health Clinics, the patient has been diagnosed with sinusitis and bronchitis and treated with a seven-day antibiotic regimen (500mg Cefuroxime) which has not resolved the issue. After five days of taking the antibiotic, the patient returned with a worse cough and fever still present. The cough is productive with thick, yellow mucus with some blood streaks. He also has night sweats and fatigue and is losing weight as well. Mr. Louis states that he has shortness of breath on exertion and has chest pain. EKG was carried out on him, and no sign of a cardiac-related issue. On examination, lung sounds are equal bilaterally but diminished in the upper lobes with crackles and bronchi. His nasal flaring and oxygen saturation was 87% on room air. 2 liters of oxygen through a nasal cannula were placed on him, bringing his oxygen saturation up to 92%. His current vital signs are a temperature of 102°F, pulse of 112 bpm, respiration of 28/mins, and blood pressure of 118/72mmHg. Mr. Louis has had a relationship with his partner (Robert Jenkins) for the past ten years. He also has a son from his previous marriage who is currently 40 years old and lives about 15 miles away from his daddy. Mr. Louis retired as a social worker in a correctional county facility 11 months ago, and he also traveled to Zambia Africa, one year ago.
