In addition, a culturally competent approach when dealing with Indigenous groups is comprehending and appreciating their healing remedies. A nurse’s comprehension of various Indigenous healing ways will allow them to have an open-minded attitude toward their patients. For example, according to Indigenous beliefs, to commence the healing process, the focus is to heal the imbalances between their mind, body and spirit since these imbalances are thought to cause the sickness (Potter & Potter, 2019). Prayer and healing properties such as smoke (smudges) and sweetgrass play an integral part in the healing process and bring positive energy to the healing process (Potter & Perry, 2019).
